Most people simply break all of their eggs into one bowl, only to be faced with the terrible sight and rotten smell of that one bad egg in the midst.
So how do we find out if an egg is fresh or bad , since most times we cannot tell their shelf life by just looking at them. Here are some very simple test to determine the freshness of your egg(s).
Gently place the egg in a bowl or glass jar and fill with cold water;
- If the egg sinks and lays on it side at the bottom, then the egg is still fresh.
- If the egg stands up at the bottom, this simply means that though the egg is still good but it needs to be consumed fast.
- The last test is, if the egg floats to the top , it shows that the egg is bad and should not be consumed.
- Eating bad eggs can cause some health issues such as vomiting and diarrhoea, stomach cramps or even fever. It is important we eat only fresh eggs especially children.
