Volkswagen has taken over Toyota as the biggest world automaker for the year 2016. Toyota sold a total of 10.175 million automobiles worldwide lesser than the figure of Volkswagen which sold a record of 10.31 million .
It has been a close one between the two automobile giants. In 2015, Toyota was the leading automaker with sales of 10.15 million vehicles followed by same Volkswagen with 9.93 million sales. While GM was third with 9.8 million. Volkswagen prides itself with cars like Audi, Porsche and Skoda.
For now, the German car makers are world No.1. However GM's sales record which is expected next week will determine if they remain so.
