A strongly bonded family, stays together in good times and in bad times. The love, joys, friendship and happiness that radiate from every member of such family, is certainly worth wishing for.
So, how do you ensure that your family stays together, grow together, love each other without measure and remain happy.
- Pray together: It is very true that "a family that prays together, stays together." It is just as simple as that. Cultivate the habit of praying together as a family before retiring to bed at nights, in the mornings, before and after meals. As a parent, never leave home without saying a prayer with your children, even if it means going to their rooms to pray, with and for them when they are still asleep. Ensure that your prayers are not said separately, let the children grow up to realise the importance of prayers in the family. Never forget to bless your children everyday of your life and they in turn, as they grow up, will never forget to bless you too.
- Eat together: There are very simple things that keep a family together and one of them is having meals together. Learn to invite each other to the table when it's meal time. The family should learn to enjoy their meals together. It is usually better and more satisfying when everyone sits to dine together.
- Support each other: Families that support each other, stay closer to each other. Learn to support and stand by every member of your family. If one member is going through any challenge, ensure others are there for him or her, not to judge or condemn but to support and assist and help him or her get through it.
- Celebrate Together: Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, festive seasons such as Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving , Sallah or any other special occasion together. Choose a date for gathering together to celebrate, especially if everyone in the family is all grown up.
- Have Fun: Go out on vacation, visit places together, hang out and have some fun with your family, away from your home. Those memorable moments together, will linger on and everyone would certainly have a story to share and laugh about.
