Rafael Nadal has finally broken a three -year jinx, of losing to Novak Djokovic to reach the finals of the Madrid open.
The 30-year old Spaniard beat his opponent from Serbia in a straight set, 6-2 6-4 to claim his first victory since the 2014 French Open Final.
"It is a great result to win against Novak by that score, you have to be playing very well, otherwise it's impossible.
"I think the last two years perhaps haven't been my best two years. For Novak, they were really good years," he said.
Djokovic, acknowledging Nadal's performance, had said after the tight game, "He deserved to win."
