South Korea: Trial Of Ousted President Park Geun-hye, Begins Today.

The trial of former South Korea's President Park Geun-hye  who was impeached from office  on charges of corruption  commenced today.



Ms Park  is being accused of bribery, abuse of state powers and leaking state secrets.

In her first appearance since she was escorted to prison in March, 2017, Ms Park arrived  the court in handcuff in a prison van.

The former President allegedly colluded with her long time friend, Choi Soon-sil to extort money from the country's biggest companies including Samsung in exchange for political favours.

Ms Choi Soon-sil is equally facing trial in the same court.

Both the former President and her friend are pleading not guilty.
