Amid rising tensions over the North Korea crisis, Japan has sent its largest warship, Izumo, to escort the US supply vessel within Japanese waters.

BBC reports that Izumo, the helicopter carrier warship, is the first warship deployed outside of Japan military exercise and it is the pride of the Japanese navy.

Despite several warnings to North Korea, from the US and other concerned allies, to stop its persistent  nuclear and missile test activities, Pyongyang still carried out a failed missile test on Sunday.

The US ship being escorted by Japan, is heading to refuel the naval fleet in the region, which also include the Carl Vinson aircraft carrier group which North Korea leader, Kim Jong -Un has threatened to sink.
