President Trump Fires FBI Director, James Comey

US President Donald Trump, has removed the director of FBI, James Comey, from office. In a letter written by the President, he announced that he agreed with US Attorney General, Jeff Sessions', recommendation  that  Comey, was unable to "effectively lead the Bureau."


According to the White House, Comey, was fired for the way he was handling investigation into  Hilary Clinton's email, since it appeared he gave inaccurate information to Congress about his inquiry, BBC reports.

There are however, speculations that Mr Comey, was fired because the FBI was investigation alleged link between the Trump campaign and Russia.

James Comey's sack came as a surprise to many as  President Trump, had earlier  praised the FBI director on the handling of investigations into Mrs Clinton's email and during the final days of his campaign had said it "took guts" for Mr Comey to reopen the inquiry. "What he did brought back his reputation."

The 56- year -old was addressing FBI agents in Los Angeles, when he saw on television that he was fired.
The news of his sack caught him unawares as he was reported to have laughed over it thinking it was a prank.

A search for a possible replacement of Comey, has already begun, according to the White house.
