In a statement he released on Friday, he said it was a bad joke and he didn't mean any harm by it.
He also added that the joke he told on Thursday, to the Glastonbury Festival crowd, was in poor taste.
The statement partially reads:
"It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice". "I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone.” Depp had joked, "When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?"
