Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR Communication, owner of African Independent Television, AIT, and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside some notable politicians has on Monday, unveiled a new
party – the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA).
Former chairman of the Labour Party, Dan Anyanwu, was also at the occasion which was held at Reiz Continental Hotels in Abuja, Cable ng reports.
The slogan of the new party is ‘Stronger Together’, and one Shitu Kabiru has been made the interim national chairman.
The national executive committee of the party is yet to be constituted.
Prior to the event, there had been speculations that some dissatisfied members of the PDP were planning to establish a new party.
After The PDP lost the Presidential elections in 2015, the party seem to have lost its footing. Some of its party members deflected to All Progressive Congress (APC), while many others gave suggestions to leave the party should Ali Modu Sheriff win the disputed PDP chairmanship at the supreme court.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Makarfi, chairman of the caretaker of the PDP, had distanced himself from APDA.
