A first year student of the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, committed suicide after she was accused of stealing by her room mates.
According to Ajani Damiloa,a student of the school, who shared the news on Facebook, Ariyibi Ayomide, was an undergraduate of Employee Relations and Human Resources Management and shared a room with other female student in Amina Hall, a hostel in the school.
Trouble, however broke out when some items (makeup and clothes) belonging to one of her room mates, got missing.
After searching, the items were allegedly found in separate bags owned by Ayomide. Her room mates accused her of stealing them and hauled abuses on her.
Ayomide called in her mother, who is a staff of the institution to intervene. Her mother upon arrival, paid for the stolen items and asked her to pick her belonging from the hostel and follow her home.
However, on her way to the hostel, her room mates, together with other students in the hostel publicly insulted and disgraced her, calling her names.
On getting home, her mother left her at home to go back to the institution for work, but as soon as she left, Ayomide, reportedly drank a bottle of sniper, a popular insecticide which took her life.
He mother returned after work, hours after she left Ayomide at home, only to find her on the floor unresponsive. She rushed her to the hospital but she gave up in the hospital.
