The fire at the Grande- Synthe Camp, near the port of Dunkirk started during a fight between Afghan and Kurds, the officials said.
The camp has been reduced to ashes and almost impossible to put the huts back were they were before.
Officials said the persistent unrest in the camp has led to plans to dismantle the camps. Six people had knife wounds after the fight that led to the fire.
Last month, five men were injured in a fight before police intervened and in November, one person was stabbed.
