A youth pastor in Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Akolade Arowolo, who killed his wife, Titilayo, by stabbing her, is pleading with the Lagos State Government for pardon.
Arowolo and 73 other inmates of the Kirikiri Maximum Prisons, yesterday, claimed they are now reformed and sought pardon under the Lagos State Prerogative of Mercy conferred on the governor.
He was sentenced to death three years ago. by an Ikeja High court after being found guilty of murdering his wife, on June 24, 2011.
Arowolo's. plea was upon the Committee on Prerogative of Mercy's promise, that the State will exercise its prerogative on prisoners, who prove to have reformed.
The pastor and the 73 others. were called out by the committee, led by Professor Oyewole Oyewo, which was on a fact -finding visit to the prisons, to find out if there were inmates eligible for mercy and pardon.
The Committee was set up by the governor to review their application.
Pastor Arowolo, who spoke on behalf of his fellow inmates, pleaded for mercy stressing that they are all remorseful and should be given another chance to right their wrongs.
