BBC reports that in the first military attack on forces led by  Bashad Al- Assad,  Syria President, the United States has launched  missile attack on a Syrian air base, in response to the
chemical weapon  attack which killed about 70 people, mostly women and children in the  rebel -held town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province.

The Syrian Army has said six people were killed by the US attack. Fifty -nine Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired from two US Navy ships in the Mediterranean.

The attack has been condemned by the Russia government, calling it "an act of aggression on a sovereign nation."
