The BBC reports that as the G7 foreign Ministers prepare to meet in Italy, on Monday, talks on how to distance Russia from Syria's President, Bashar Al-Assad will be in focus.
Russia is a strong supporter of Syria Government and had helped in the 2013 agreement to destroy Syria's chemical weapon.
Tillerson, had said failure of Russia to ensure the destruction of the chemical weapons gave room for the attack.
He will head for Moscow on Tuesday, from the G7 meeting to meet with Sergie Lavrov, his Russian counterpart.
Syria has said it did not use any chemical weapon while Russia says there are no evidence by the US to show Syria has chemical weapon.
