Olu Falae Abductors Gets Life Sentence

Seven herdsmen responsible for the kidnap of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae in 2015, have been sentenced to life imprisonment.


A High Court in Akure, Ondo State, presided by Justice Williams Olamide, yesterday, Monday, April 10, concluded that the herdsmen were guilty as charged by the State Government.

Chief Falae was abducted in his farm at Ilado village in Akure North Local Government Area of the State, on September 9, which happened to be his birthday.

He was later released after a N5million ransom was paid to the kidnappers.

According to Justice Olamide, the recovered ransom, call logs and subsequent identification by Olu Falae were adequate proof to indict the men of the crime.
They were however discharged of two of the charges, armed robbery and conspiracy.

The convicts include, Abdukadir Yaro,Umaru Ibarahim, Bello Jannu,Abubakar Auta,Babawuru Kato,
Masahudu Mohammed and Idris Lawal.

Counsels to the accused, Abdul Raham Yusuf, express dissatisfaction with the judgement and gave indication to appeal the judgement.

However, The Director of Public Prosecution at the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, Mrs Adesola Adeyemi -Tuki said the judgement is a well deserved one.
