Lagos State Govt., Denies Demolition Of Ojodu Market

 Governor, Ambode Akinwunmi, says he did not order the demolition of Ojodu market, Thursday, in Lagos.

Several shops in the market were demolished at the early hours of Thursday, before many of the traders arrived the market. Men of the Lagos State taskforce, and the police were seen around the market to ensure breakdown of law and order while the exercise took place.

The affected traders claimed they were not aware of the demolition,since they were not given any prior notice by the government.

Ambode, has however expressed surprised at the demolition which resulted in the loss of goods worth millions of Naira.

The Governor, while speaking at the 2nd Quarter of 2017 Town Hall Meeting, organised by the State government at the Shibiri/Ekunpa, Area office, Oto -Awori Local Council Development Authority, said, the demolition of the market was not approved by him.

"I have directed the commissioner for Justice to look into the matter and report back to me.We are ready to support market women and we will not do anything to jeopardize their interest," he said.
