Imported Gari From India: Nafdac Begins Crackdown On Importers

Recently in the country, packs of imported gari from India were seen in the country. National Agency For Food And Drugs Administration And Control, NAFDAC,
has commenced investigation as to how the imported gari got into the country. Gari,is a staple food in Nigeria and is produced in almost all the rural areas in the Southern part of the country.
The Acting Director General of NAFDAC,Mrs Yetunde Oni speaking in Ilorin , Kwara State on a one -day zonal campaign by the Agency said that preliminary investigation revealed that the imported gari was actually produced in Ghana but was packaged in UK. She further stated that the gari had no NAFDAC number and further investigation is going on.
