Alleged N108bn Fraud: EFCC Seizes Ex Akwa Ibom State Gov. Wife's School

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has once again seized another property of a prominent Nigerian. This time it is a school allegedly,
owned by Unoma Akpabio, the wife of the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio,
The seizure was a result of the investigation on the Ex Governor for a N108bn fraud during his tenure as governor (2007 - 2015).
The school, which is located in Shelter Afrique, Uyo , Akwa Ibom State is said to be well equipped with huge amount of money invested into it, has been under the watchful eyes of the EFCC .
Due to the current academic session in the school, the EFCC decided to mark the school rather than shut it down so that innocent parents and students would not be affected.The school has been marked 'Under Investigation' by the EFCC.
The agency has said that the Ex Governor is still under serious investigation and that they have discovered some houses in Abuja and Lagos belonging to Akpabio.
Godswill Akpabio is currently the Senate Minority Leader and is being accused of embezzling funds while he was governor of the oil-rich Akwa Ibom State.
According to Punch Newspaper, "Akpabio was accused of lavish spending such that on 23 of March , he openly gave N1m each to the six Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party from the South- South geographical zone who had met for a party reconciliation session, and Akpabio asked them to use it for "Mr Biggs ."
