English midfielder Raheem Sterling opened scoring for Man City while AS Monaco replied with an equaliser( 1-1) from the Colombian forward Radamel Falcao who also scored the third goal for AS Monaco and lost a penalty.
The french forward, Kylian Mbappe made it second for Monaco.
The Argentine striker Sergio Aguero pushed in Man City's second and third goals after a yellow .
John Stones made it four for the home team while the German Midfielder sealed the game for Man City with a fifth goal.
Man City won the game 5-3 after coming from behind.
The second leg will be played by March 15 when AS Monaco FC will host Manchester City in France.
In another UEFA Champions League game tonight, it was Atletico Madrid 4 -2 Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.
