A notorious kidnapper who has been behind most of the recent kidnappings and killings in Lagos and Ogun States has been arrested by the Police.
The 38-year old suspect by the name Joseph Omoni, is said to have been actively involved in the recent kidnap that took place in Isheri, where the Secretary of the Isheri North East Landlord Association was kidnapped, killing three security men in the estate. He was also involved in the kidnap of the Turkish school students and staff kidnap in Ogun State.
According to NAN, Police Spokesman, Jimoh Moshood said the suspect hails from Ajagba community in Ese Odo LGA of Ondo State. Omoni was apprehended by the police in Century village in Ogijo town, Ogun State, where he has built two houses with the ransom money he collected. The houses have been seized by the Police. Another gang member named 'Chairman' was also arrested along with him.
Omoni in his confessional statement, said he took part in the kidnap/assasination attack which led to the death of Aisha Ali Balogun and some others on Ikorodu/ Mile 12 road in December last year.
Police said investigation is still going on and the suspect will be arraigned in court at the end of investigation and that there are strong moves to arrest the remaining members of the gang who are still at large.
