Ex NNPC GMD Puts Up A Fight: Ask Court To Refund Seized N3bn

The former Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ,NNPC, Group Managing Director, has made move to reclaim the $9.7m and 74,000 pounds (N3bn) which he was asked to forfeit by a court in Kano
after the amount was recovered by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kaduna State.
Mr Andrew Yakubu has filed a suit at the court in Kano asking it to set aside the order asking him to forfeit the said amount to the Federal Government last week.
He stated through his counsel, Ahmed Raji (SAN) that the court did not have the jurisdiction to handle the case since the crime was not committed in Kano but Abuja.
The lawyer said "No aspect of the perceived offence in respect of which the order of 13 February was made, was committed within the Kano juridical division of this Honourable court."
