Plans for the trial of the former Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Group Managing Director, Dr. Andrew Yakubu has been concluded by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and is set for
next week.
The GMD who the huge sum of $9.7m and 74,000pounds (N3bn) in cash was recovered from, lost the application for bail in court yesterday and will be remanded in custody following the obtaining of a court order by the EFCC to remand him in custody until his arraignment in court.
In another light, his brother, Bitrus Yakubu who was said to be at home when the EFCC arrived has been cleared after investigation. According to the EFCC, Bitrus was not aware that such money was kept in a safe in the slum of Sabon Tasha, Kaduna State by his brother Andrew Yakubu. Bitrus only got to know when EFCC discovered the safe.
