DSS Arrests Former Benue State Governor Over FireArms

The Department of State Security (DSS) yesterday arrested the former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam over possession of illegal firearms, plots of land , various exotic cars and designer wrist watches.

The DSS recovered a Glock pistol with two magazine and total of 29 round ammunition; a mini -uzi with two magazine containing 10 rounds and four rounds respectively, 42 extra rounds of ammunition and one AK 47.
Toyin Opuiyo and official of the DSS in a statement said 21 certificates of occupancy; one offer of Statutory Rights of Occupancy; 45 keys to various exotic cars and 23 designer watches were recovered from the former Governor.
These items were recovered from the boots of a Mercedes Benz S550 (BWR 135AH) and Masarati 4.7 (BWR 207 AJ) parked inside a company, Dunes Investment and Properties Ltd. located at 44, Aguiyi Ironsi, Way Maitaima, Abuja.
Suswam,  who is a two- term governor of Benue State, a member of House of Representative and a  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain is already facing  N3,1bn fraud charges.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in November 10, 2015,  arraigned the former governor and his Finance Commissioner, Okolobia Omodachi before Justice A.R  Muhammed of  the Federal High Court in Abuja, on a 9-count charge of conspiracy , bribery and abuse of office.
