Ministers No Longer Allowed To Represent Heads Of State In AU Summits




In a move to reform African Union (AU) summits, The AU Chairperson, the President of Guinea , President Alpha Conde has directed that, ministers will no longer address the Assembly of Heads Of State but
should remain at the level of their executive meetings.
 President Conde, as reported by NAN, told the 28th AU summit  held on Tuesday in Adis Ababa, that the new measure was part of the recommendations made in 2016 at AU summit in Kigali.He was quoted as saying " If you call it Assembly of Heads of State, it should remain so, there is no need for ministers to take the floor."
Conde, also spoke about punctuality on the part of the leaders and advised that it should be checked. According to him, "when they go for such meetings outside Africa,the leaders always keep to time but it is only in Africa they come to meetings at will and late."
