The 13 University of Lagos students who were detained at the Kirikiri prison for protesting
against the school management have regained their freedom.

The students who have been in custody since Saturday were set free today, Thursday after they were brought before a mobile court sitting in Oshodi, Lagos.
One of the students has threatened taking legal action against the Lagos State Commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni.

Several groups, including National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS and Education Rights Campaign, prior to their release, condemned the detention of the students.

Meanwhile, the university management, earlier this week, denounced the students saying some of them were already rusticated from the school while others were not students of the university.
