Naval Officer Found Dead In His Lagos Apartment

A tragedy has occurred at Tamadu Barracks, North Avenue, Apapa, Lagos as the lifeless body of the Fleet Commander, Western Naval Command, Apapa, Real Admiral Teikumo Daniel Ikoli was discovered in his apartment.


Reports say Ikoli who was a former Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Beecroft, who was also  recently appointed into the Presidential Committee on the probe of arms deal, lived alone with a male domestic help in his duplex, while his wife lives in Abuja and  his children school abroad.

The police upon arrival at the house of the deceased discovered pistol and live ammunition at  the scene of the incident.

There are differing reports as to the cause of the death of the Commander. It was gathered that the Ikoli left office earlier than usual on Tuesday, after complaining that he was unwell. There are suspicions that Ikoli could have shot himself.

According to Vanguard, the Police from Apapa Division, who arrived  the scene around 5.00 am said,
"When our men arrived the scene, it was discovered that the deceased could have shot himself. Three bullets were found in the room. But we have begun investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. There was no suicide note either."
