EFCC:Ex Niger State Gov. Held For Questioning

The Ex Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu is being held for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of
money laundering and abuse of office.

It is alleged that the former governor diverted the sum of N2 billion Ecological Funds for political purposes.
News Agency Of Nigeria, NAN, reports that, Aliyu is also being interrogated by the Agency for allegedly selling the State's stake in North South Power, the holding company for Kainji Dam, fraudulently.

The sum of N3.6 billion was realised from the sales in which about 16 per cent  of the States 26 per cent shares of the company was sold.
Some of the money  from the sales was shared among three companies allegedly owned by the State  government officials for contracts and the rest converted to dollars for the governor.
