Aero Contractors Lay Off 900 Workers

No fewer than 900 workers representing about 60% of the workforce of Aero Contractors have been sacked by the Airline.


Aero Contractors Airline which is now under the management of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, issued letters of redundancy to 900 workers within the week.

The airline management said the decision was made in order to reduce expenses, since the aircraft has not been fully operational and has been taken over by AMCON since 2013. It is also to prevent the aircraft from total collapse.

According to the Media Consultant of the airline , Mr Simon Tumba, who confirmed the development. " The current situation were over a thousand people are basically not engaged due to lack of serviceable aircraft is not sustainable for the airline.

He added that the laid off workers will be paid their pension and gratuity accordingly.
