Suicide Attempt On Lagos Lagoon Averted By The Police

A woman who attempted to commit suicide on Lagos Lagoon was rescued, today, Friday by the Police.

Recall that just last Sunday, a doctor by name, Allwell Orji killed himself by jumping into the same Lagoon and his body was found just few days ago.

Vanguard Reports that, Taiwo Momoh the woman who tried to jump into the Lagoon on the  Oworoshoki end of  the third mainland bridge was in a taxi when she asked the driver to stop on the bridge.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni said the woman was about to jump into the lagoon when police patrol team on duty sighted her and  prevented her from doing so.

From his interaction with the woman, Owoseni said the woman attempted to end her life due to depression, which resulted from unsettled debt she had incurred.

The police in a measure to prevent more suicide attempts  have  commence constant  patrol on all bridges in Lagos State.
The Police Commissioner has said that henceforth, it will be an offence for people to be seen walking on the bridge or for vehicles to park on bridges in Lagos to avoid suicide attempts.
