A call on President Uhuru Kenyatta led government to effect a 150% to 180% pay rise and also, a review of working conditions has led to a three month old industrial strike action by medics in Kenya.

The government on Tuesday however withdrew a 50% initial pay offer and ordered the striking doctors to go back to work or face disciplinary actions should they fail to resume.

The President accused the doctors of being insensitive and said there would be no further negotiations on salaries or allowances.

"Do these doctors think we are that stupid? you only work for two hours in government facilities and then run to your private clinics."

"Consequently for failure to call off the strike, the  government has now rescinded this offer and there would be no further negotiations and doctors are expected to go back to work with immediate effect", he said.
