A two day curfew has been declared in Ile -Ife, Osun state by the governor, Rauf Aregbesola following a clash between Yoruba and Hausa Communities in the State as reported by Vanguard.
The clash was alleged to have started between a Yoruba woman and a Hausa man in the Sabo area of Ile- Ife on Tuesday, and later escalated into an inter-ethnic clash, resulting to the death of at least five people and leaving several people injured.
In a Statement signed by Mr Semiu Okanlawo, the Director of Communication and Strategy, office of the State Governor, " the curfew which will be between 6pm to 7 am takes effect from today , Wednesday, March 8th 2017 and will be in force till Friday."
The curfew according to the statement, was necessitated by the breach of peace in the area which led to avoidable loss of lives and destruction of properties. Security forces have already been deployed to the area.
The Government has also given a stern warning to those involved in the act to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
