The former South Korea President Park Geun -hye who was impeached over allegations of corruption has been arrested.
Park is being accused of allowing her close friend, Choi Soon-Sil extort money from companies in exchange for political favours.
Ms Choi is being accused of using her relationship and connection with the president to pressure companies to give millions of dollars in donation to a non - profit foundation she runs.
The former President lost her immunity as a President after the Constitutional Court upheld a decision by Parliament to impeach her.
The charges levelled against Ms Park are bribery, abuse of authority and leaking of government secrets.
The Ex -president has denied the allegations.
