Ondo Assembly: Speaker And Others Resign

Jumoke Akindele, the Speaker of  Ondo House of Assembly and five other Principal officers  resigned yesterday  after a two - months- old leadership crisis rocking the House.


The officers who resigned include, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Fatai Olotu, Majority Leader, Ifedayo Akinsoyinu, Deputy Majority Leader, Vincent Obadiah, The Whip, Kemisola Adesanya and Towase Kuti, The Assistant Parliamentary Secretary.

The Ondo State House of Assembly was divided into two factions after the Speaker, Jumoke Akindele was "impeached" by the second faction over allegation of corruption.

The decision, lead to a leadership crisis afterAkindele insisted she still remained the Speaker of the House.

Both factions, have been laying claim to the leadership of the House of Assembly for the past two months.
The Lawmakers said they had to resign in order to give room for peace.
