Justice Bello, in delivering his judgement sentenced two of the defendants to death and discharged three for lack of sufficient evidence, since one of them was at large.
The officers involved are Nicholas Zakaria, Ezekiel Acheneje, Baba Emmanuel, Danjuma Ibrahim, Sadiq Salami and Othman Abdulsalami (who is at large).
The Attorney - General of the Federation had in 2005 charged the six officers to court for the alleged crime.
The six traders killed were: Chinedu Meniru, Isaac Ekene, Ifeanyi Ozor, Paulinus Ogbonna, Anthony Nwodike and Augustina Arebun.
