Ex NNPC GMD Granted N300m Bail

The Former Group Managing Director Of The Nigeria National Petroleum Authority, NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, has been granted bail
in the sum of N300million by a Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday.

Mr Yakubu was arraigned on a six count charge bordering on false declaration of asset and money laundering .He was afterwards remanded in Kuje Prison on March 16.

Yesterday in court, he  was ordered by the trial Judge, Justice A.R Mohammed to produce two sureties also in the sum of N30O million. The one of the  sureties according to the Justice,  must have landed property anywhere in Abuja.

According to the Judge, "The value of the property shall cover the amount of the bond. The second surety shall be a person gainfully employed and resident in Abuja with a permanent address. The sureties shall both swear to affidavit of means to cover the amount of the bond."

The court also seized Yakubu's international passport and ordered that he must not leave the country.
