The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Caretaker committee Chairman, Ahmed Makarfi has denied the recent reports in the dailies, that he had accepted Ali Modu Sheriff as PDP national Chairman.
Ahmed Makarfi says the report given by a committee led by the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson was false.
According to the Dickson led -committee, which had on Tuesday submitted a technical report to Sheriff and made a recommendation that the party holds its national convention on June 30 said it had consulted all stakeholders including the Makarfi led faction before making its recommendation.
Makarfi in a statement, has however, refuted the claim saying it was false. He said though he met with Dickson to discus the recommendation, he never accepted Ali Modu Sheriff as Chairman.
"This is to debunk a report made by the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson that I accepted Ali Modu Sheriff as national chairman of PDP and the convention scheduled for June 30.
I am shocked and disappointed that the governor of Bayelsa State, made a public presentation of a purported report approved or endorsed by us and other stakeholders as reported.
"So this is coming to debunk the insinuation that we accepted Sheriff as the national chairman to conduct the convention or that we accept Governor Dickson's proposals."
