World Cup: FiFA Proposes Nine Automatic Places For Africa

The World Football governing body, FIFA  is proposing that Africa gets nine automatic places by 2026, when the
World Cup teams increase to 48.

If it is endorsed, it would mean an increase from the current five places held by the continent.
The recommendation is scheduled to be voted on by the FIFA Council on 9 May, during its next meeting.

Increasing the World Cup teams from 32 to 48, starting with the 2026 edition was voted on by FIFA members in January.
