Robert Mugabe who has been in power since 1987, after Zimbabwe became a Republic had said he had plans to contest in the next Presidential election.

" At the ripe age of 93, Mugabe is anything, but a young man. He needs to rest. He needs to take it easy." Gutu, the leader of MDC- T one of the oppositions said and also added that  Mugabe's retirement was long overdue.

The People's Democratic Party Spokesman, Jacob Mafume said "Mugabe should rest and appoint a successor in his party so that he could concentrate on his health and allow Zimbabwe to "breathe" from the yoke he has bound it to."

"His state of health and his desire to continue being the country's president are contrary. It is time someone told Mugabe that he is old and needs to rest. No matter how much he would want to rule in Zimbabwe, He can only go this far. He is now tired", Mafume said
